After its world premiere in November last year at the Tokyo Motor Show, Yamaha haven't spoken much about the Yamaha YZF-R25. The concept motorcycle had its Indian debut in February this year at the Auto Expo, and at a dealer-level conference in Indonesia.

Yamaha have commenced road trials of the R25. The motorcycle was spotted in Indonesia recently.

These spyshots, captured by Frankie Lampard in Indonesia, show that Yamaha have commenced road tests of the R25, ahead of a market launch rumored to take place by the end of this year. When launched, the R25 will be the company's high-performance sports bike in developing markets in Asia, while in places like Europe and Japan, the R25 will form Yamaha's entry-level segment.

Powering the R25 will be a newly-developed, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 250cc, in-line two-cylinder, fuel-injected engine, while the gearbox will be a 6-speed unit. As of now, Yamaha haven't spoken about the power or torque outputs of this engine.

The concept R25 had its dimensions set at 2,000 mm in length, 720 mm in width and 1,140 mm in height, and the production version is expected to be similarly sized. Design wise, the R25 is claimed by Yamaha to look strikingly similar to the YZR-M1 MotoGP bike.
