Production of the current Volvo XC90 will soon move to China as Europe takes over the production of the next-generation XC90 which is based on the all-new SPA platform. The current XC90, repositioned to a lower segment, will be sold as the Volvo XC Classic in China and production will start in the second half of the year.

A spyshot of the production-ready SUV has been posted on Chinese website Autohome. The 7-seater SUV seen in the images wears the 'Classic' badge on the tailgate, but does not get apparent cosmetic updates.

The Classic measures 4,807 mm in length, 1,936 mm in width and 1,784 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,857 mm, identical to the current car's specifications.

The next-generation Volvo XC90 is expected towards the end of the year.
