TVS has announced that a new family of Apache models is being developed and that it would expand beyond the 180 cc segment.

In an interview to Autocar Professional, the company's head of R&D, Vinay Harne, said that the gap would be bridged - presumably referring to the gap between the competition and the Apache - and that many products would come out to bridge the gap.

The TVS Apache was first launched in December 2005 as a 160 cc model and in May 2009 as a 180 cc model. The last refresh was in April 2012 when it got its new skin and daytime running lights, amongst other changes. The bike also reached its 1 million mark in May last year.

At the Auto Expo 2014, the company had showcased the TVS Draken - X21 concept, adding that it would be the future direction the Apache took. The concept showed that TVS could make the Apache shed more skin, making it more of a naked street bike, with its visible structural sub-frame.
