The Suzuki Ertiga was displayed at the 17th International Motor Show of Algiers which began last week. Suzuki has expressed interest to launch the Ertiga in Algeria with prices expected at 1,420,000 Algerian Dinar (INR 11.15 lakhs) for the manual and 1,520,000 Dinar (INR 12 lakhs) for the automatic.

The Ertiga is currently manufactured by Maruti in India. India-made Ertigas are exported to Indonesia where they're not only sold by parent Suzuki, but are also badge engineered by Mazda as the VX-1. If Maruti exports the Ertiga to Algeria, it will be the first left hand drive market for the MPV. Maruti already exports cars such as the Alto 800 and Swift Dzire to Algeria with the steering wheel on the other side.

The Ertiga for Algeria will be sold by Elsecom Automobile, Suzuki's distributor for the region. The company plans to retail the petrol variants of the Ertiga which are powered by the 1.4-liter four-cylinder K-Series engine producing 95 PS and 130 Nm of torque. Algeria will get the 5-speed manual gearbox and the 4-speed automatic transmission on the Ertiga, while in India Maruti sells the MPV only with the manual option.

Unlike the Indian model which gets different grades (LXi, VXi, ZXi), the Algerian Ertiga is offered in a single top-end trim. As a result, features such as dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, double-row AC, music system and alloy wheels are standard fitment.
