IAB Report - BMW India to launch M6 Gran Coupe on April 3

The next launch for BMW India will be that of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe. The M6 Gran Coupe was revealed at the Detroit Motor Show in January of last year, while an Indian showcasing was done at the 2014 Auto Expo last month.

The M6 Gran Coupe is basically the go-faster version of the 6 Series Gran Coupe. BMW India launched the 6 Series Gran Coupe in India towards the later part of 2012. The 6 Gran Coupe is priced between INR 1.07-1.19 crores (ex-Showroom) and is a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) product.

The M6 Gran Coupe gets its power from the same engine powering the M5. The engine in question is a 4.4-liter V8 with BMWs Twin Scroll and Twin-Turbocharging technology. It produces 560 hp between 6,000-7,000 rpm and 680 Nm of torque between 1,500-5,750 rpm and is paired to a 7-speed M double-clutch gearbox sending power to the rear wheels.

The M6 Gran Coupe will rival the Audi RS 7 in India.

The result is that the M6 Gran Coupe can do 0-100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds while the top-speed is limited to 250 km/h (optionally increased to 305 km/h). The performance four-door coupe returns 10.1 km/l in the EU driving cycle.

The M6 Gran Coupe will go on sale in India from April 3. It will compete with the Audi RS 7, which was launched in India in January this year for a price of INR 1.28 crores.
