The T-ROC is based on VW's MQB platform.

The T-ROC is based on VW's MQB architecture and measures 4,179 mm in length, 1,831 mm in width and 1,501 mm in height. Riding on 19-inch wheels, the T-ROC weighs 1,420 kg.

The T-ROC is powered by the same engine used on the Golf GTD. This 2.0-liter TDI produces 184 PS and 380 Nm of torque. The result is a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds and a top-speed of 210 km/h. The concept uses a 7-speed DSG transmission to send power to all its wheels using VW's 4MOTION technology. The fuel efficiency is claimed at 20.4 km/l while emissions are rated at 129 g/km.

The concept measures 4.17 m long.

The 4MOTION system features three driving modes: Street, Off-Road and Snow. Each mode modifies the way the four-wheel drive system reacts, and certain driving aids - the speedometer for example which changes to a different dial - are also enhanced depending on the mode chosen.

More than the concept itself, the design of the car previews the brand's "new approach to compact SUVs".
