Mercedes-Benz will showcase the CLA 45 AMG, a performance version of the compact luxury sedan CLA, at the Auto Expo 2014.
The CLA 45 AMG is built on the same platform that underpins the Mercedes-Benz A- and B-Class models, both of which account to 20 percent of Mercedes India's business.
The CLA 45 AMG is powered by a 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine that develops a healthy 355 hp, making it the most powerful four-cylinder engine currently under production. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels, under Mercedes's 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
The launch of the CLA 45 AMG could give a fillip to the performance brand's sales in India. At present, the least expensive AMG variant in India, the C 63 AMG, costs around Rs 1 crore, whilst the CLA 45 AMG can be expected to be priced around Rs 70 lakh.
Mercedes will also display the multiple race winning Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 machine at the Auto Expo 2014, along with the Concept GLA and the M Guard SUV.
