The mid-size TLX Concept replaces the TL sedan featuring "emotional styling with sports sedan proportions". The company's Los Angeles Design Studio is behind the concept car, and the production vehicle is today in development at the company's Ohio R&D center.

Acura have announced the BMW 3 Series competitor with two powertrains - a direct-injection SOHC i-VTEC 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to a nine-speed automatic and a direct-injection DOHC, i-VTEC, 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine with a 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission.

These direct injection engines are matched to two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive systems, while the gearbox is a completely new unit.

The TLX is designed to appeal to current and next gen sports sedan customers, and care has been taken to make the car appeal to owners of the TL and TSX as well.
