Volkswagen has introduced the new Jetta GLI Edition 30, which celebrates the model's 30th anniversary in the United States of America. The special edition will go on sale early in 2014.
The first Jetta GLI model was introduced in 1984 to the U.S. market. To mark this occasion VW will sell the car in two trim levels - the Edition 30 and the Edition 30 with Navigation.
The VW Jetta GLI Edition 30 features red trim on the front grille, a trunklid-mounted spoiler, 18-inch Laguna-style alloy wheels and “Edition 30” badging. The Edition 30 with Navigation is distinguished by the red trim inside the Bi-Xenon headlights.
Inside, the Edition 30 features contrasting color V-Tex leatherette seats with red accents. Red contrast stitching also appears on the steering wheel, shifter, brake lever and armrests. Edition 30 badge appears on the kick plates as well as the floor mats which too get red stitching. Official interior images are due.
Other features on the well-equipped VW Jetta GLI Edition 30 include a leather wrapped steering wheel, shift knob and brake handle. The infotainment system features Premium VIII touchscreen radio with SiriusXM Satellite Radio and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Edition 30 with Navigation gets additional features like RNS 315 touchscreen navigation system, keyless access with push-button start, LED daytime running lights, Bi-Xenon headlights with the Adaptive Front-lighting System and a rear-view camera.
Similar to the standard GLI model, power comes from a 2.0-liter TSI engine mated either to a six-speed manual or DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. It also features a sport suspension along with upgraded brakes.
The special model will be available exclusively in Tornado Red, Pure White, Deep Black Metallic and Reflex Silver Metallic exterior paint finishes. Pricing will be announced close to the launch.
