Ducati Motors have announced that the company will retail its motorcycles through its own dealership network in India. This marks the end of the company's relationship with Precision Motors, their erstwhile dealer partners in India.

2014 could see a whole gamut of bikes, both old and new, from Ducati for India.

Cristiano Silei, vice-president (sales and marketing) Ducati, said -

We consider India an extremely important part of Ducati’s future global strategy and will strengthen our presence in the market with premium services and a larger network that will be in line with our global standards. Our entry into the Indian market is therefore a first step in this direction.

Ducati, owned by Audi and by extension part of the Volkswagen Group, is not the first company to have issues with Precision Motors. Porsche India (relaunched in India recently with a new sales plan) and Precision Motors are battling it out in Indian Courts after Precision Motors filed a case against Porsche for terminating their contract. However, until Ducati manages to get its network going, Precision Motors will continue to provide customer care in India.

For India, Ducati offers the Diavel (4 variants), Hypermotorad (2 variants), Hyperstrada, Monster (5 variants), Multistrada (four variants), Streetfighter and Superbike (4 variants). 2014 could see the 1199 Superleggera, new Monster and 899 Panigale being introduced in India.
