The all-new 2015 Mercedes C Class was unveiled in Germany yesterday. Mercedes have commenced taking orders for the new C Class in Europe, and initially three engine options are available.

The C180 priced at 33,558 euros (INR 28.6 lakhs) gets a 1.6-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 156 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Taking 8.2 seconds for the 0-100 km/h sprint, this is the slowest variant on offer, though efficiency stands at 20 km/l.

A more powerful 2.0-liter petrol engine is also available in C200 guise, priced at 36,414 euros (INR 31.1 lakhs). Producing 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque, the C200 achieves a 0-100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds and an efficiency of 18.86 km/l.

The single diesel variant, priced at 38,675 euros (INR 33.03 lakhs), is the C200 BlueTEC, powered by a 2.2-liter 170 hp engine producing 400 Nm of torque. It's the most efficient variant at 25 km/l, while 0-100 km/h takes 8.1 seconds.

All engines of the new C Class use a Start-Stop system and comply with Euro 6 emission norms. Also standard is a 6-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels. Optionally, customers can spec a dual-clutch 7-speed, 7G-Tronic gearbox along with Mercedes's 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.

The C Class will be shown to the public at the Detroit Motor Show next month.
