The Porsche Macan was revealed last week at the Los Angeles and Tokyo Motor Shows, and prices were announced in the US and Europe. Based on the Audi Q5, the Macan is 70mm longer, 24mm wider and 30mm lower than the Audi. Porsche manufactures this car at its Leipzig plant which saw an investment of 500 million Euros to welcome the new model.

In this video, Porsche stylists Michael Mauer and Mitja Borkert, explain how they recreated the feeling of the 911 in the Macan, and how inspiration came directly from sportscars.

Sporting a typical Porsche SUV design (in other words, the design of the Cayenne), its hard to tell these two apart from some angles. In the US market, certain variants of the Macan are priced very close to the Cayenne, which is another area of overlap! However, Porsche are planning a four-cylinder range in the coming year which should be considerably cheaper than the Cayenne.
