The Audi A3 Sedan has once again been spotted on tests on the roads of Mumbai, this time by the folks at OnCars.in.

The taillights miss out on the LED strips in the base variant.

The Audi A3 sedan premiered at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2013 and would make its Indian debut at the 2014 Auto Expo, to be held in Noida in early February.

The car clicked here is the base variant, about which we have already informed you earlier. This model would come with halogen headlamps while the taillights miss out the LED treatment. Xenon headlamps and taillights with LED strips could be offered as options though.

When Audi launches the A3 sedan it has to compete with the likes of the Mercedes A Class, BMW 1 Series and the upcoming Mercedes CLA. Being a sedan gives it an image of higher value, something that could work wonders for the company, quite like how the previous gen 3 Series helped BMW beat Mercedes-Benz in India.

What we do not know at this point is whether Audi India would locally assemble the A3 Sedan right from the start or whether they would bring it as a CBU initially. Expect the A3 to launch with a 2L diesel and a 1.8L petrol, hooked to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG.
