Based on insider inputs, we have a digital rendering of the VW Jetta facelift (Highline variant) showing the LED-infused Xenon headlights and headlight washers. The lower variants Trendline and Comfortline will get a new 'Sedona' alloy wheel option which is not represented in this graphic.

The Jetta was launched in India (only as a diesel model) in mid-2011, within months from the launch of the seventh generation Passat. Last year, VW listed a petrol option (1.4L TSI with a manual transmission) aiming it squarely at the driving enthusiast.

The D Segment has been a very quiet place for the last year or so, and that was partly because SUVs and sedans in the C+ segment were making some of these cars look overpriced. In this period, Honda had pulled out of this segment, while Renault, Skoda and Chevrolet showed no urgency to introduce new or updated cars.

In the last four weeks, the D (sedan) Segment has shown signs of waking up. The trigger was the introduction of the Skoda Octavia, which managed to gather 1,000 bookings within three weeks. Earlier this week, GM India introduced the Cruze facelift, while sources say that the Renault Fluence facelift is not too far away from its launch. According to an official source, Toyota plans to introduce the new Corolla next year, which is currently on road trials.

As per our sources, the Jetta facelift will launch in the coming weeks.
