TVS Motor Company has announced new paint schemes for its TVS Apache RTR 160 and TVS Phoenix. The Phoenix will now be available in a new Alpine White body color with graphics in a red shade, while the Apache gets five single-tone colors. White, Black, Red, Yellow and Titanium-Grey shades with the ‘Apache’ graphics will now be available.
There are no mechanical changes however. Which means that the Phoenix continues with its 124.5cc engine producing 11PS and 10.8Nm of torque. Features such as a fully digital speedometer, digital fuel gauge, trip meter, low battery reminder, service reminder, alloy wheels and an all-black engine continue to be seen. The RTR 160 is powered by a 159.7cc engine producing 15.2bhp and 13.1Nm of torque.
Coincidentally, TVS has also reported its sales figure for the month of September 2013. Total two-wheeler sales grew by 15% with the company having sold 189,609 units as against 165,092 units in September of 2012. Domestic sales went up by 13% from 149,191 units in September 2012 to 168,598 units last month.
The company mentions that motorcycle sales grew by 30% while scooter sales went up by only 8% (the motorcycle-scooter sales split up is 83,043 units vs 43,201 units) for that period.
On September 16th, TVS launched their new offering in the scooter segment called the Jupiter. Priced at INR 44,200 (ex-Showroom, New Delhi), sales in the North have already commenced while it would take until November for sales to begin in the South.
