Having launched new KTM and Discover variants, Bajaj Auto's attention will then have to shift towards variant extensions of the Pulsar range. Rajiv Bajaj, the MD of Bajaj Auto, confirmed two Pulsar variants for 2013, one that is larger than the 200NS, and one that is smaller than it. It is very likely that the one spotted here is the next launch and is the smaller Pulsar (as spyshots exposed the bigger Pulsar as having a completely new design).

Bajaj Pulsar variant testing
Our friends at Team Duke have spied a camouflaged Pulsar on test in Pune. The unidentified variant is speculated to be either a 150cc or 1800cc variant by automotive websites and communities.

The vehicle will share its hardware (including the perimeter frame that endows it with a 50:50 weight distribution) with the 200cc variant, but would come with a detuned engine putting out about 15-18 bhp and 14-17 Nm of torque. Team Duke reports that the motorcycle would have a liquid-cooled engine.

If the current transmission is carried over, it would be a 6-speed unit. Other details are hard to come by at this moment. The Pulsar 180 will aim squarely at the TVS Apache 180 which is the only other motorcycle in the 180cc class, and if it is a 150cc variant, Yamaha and Honda have something to watch out for.
