Anjan Ravi,

I’m a true-blooded petrolhead. Hope you enjoy our news stories, launch coverages, motorshow coverages and test drive reports.

The 2014 Toyota Corolla has just received its Euro NCAP crash test results. The good news is that it received a perfect 5/5! The Corolla used for crash testing weighed 1,290kg and was a Mid grade Euro-spec LHD model.

To be more specific, the new iteration of the best selling car in the world managed to score an impressive 94% in adult occupant safety, 82% in child occupant safety, 67% in pedestrian safety and 66% in the safety assist systems categories.

The new Toyota Corolla offers good protection to both adult and child occupants.

Euro NCAP adds that the four door saloon’s safety equipment like seat belt reminders, airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts and Electronic Stability Control worked as per the test requirements. In the event of a frontal collision, the new Corolla is found to offer good protection to both the driver and the occupants irrespective of their postures and physiques.

To protect occupants from side impact, the Mid Grade variant provides curtain airbags which also functioned properly under the test. Protection against whiplash was satisfactory as well.

Here are videos which show the car’s performance in the Euro NCAP’s evaluation process. Achieving the maximum 5-Star rating in this test means the Corolla can succeed in pretty much any other crash test evaluation.

The 2014 Toyota Corolla will be introduced in India in mid-2014. The D Segment sedan would be available with both petrol and diesel engine options whose details will be clear as we move towards the launch.
