Starting out life as the Hero Honda CBZ, this motorcycle was the earliest to offer a 150cc 4-stroke engine in India.

A few years into its service, it was renamed CBZ Star which then evolved into the CBZ Xtreme. In recent years, the bike was more popular as the Hero Xtreme.

The 150cc motorcycle has changed its identity for the fifth time, and this instance, it is for the African markets.

Hero has christened the Africa bound Xtreme as the Hero Thriller. It's completely natural in the automotive world to sell the same product in different countries under different names. The reasons are aplenty, but we're yet to find out which one it is behind the Thriller.

To sum up, the Hero Thriller is an Xtreme except for the name on the fuel tank. Here is a promo video that highlights the salient features of the bike.

The company feels that the Xtreme's slogan - Live off the edge - is suitable for the Thriller as well.

The Hero Thriller is powered by a 150cc 4-stroke air cooled engine which is matched to a 5-speed gearbox. The motor produces 14.4 bhp and 12.8 Nm of torque. The motorcycle comes with front and rear disc brakes, digital speedometer and analog tachometer, maintenance free battery, split seats and LED taillight.

With competition increasing in the Indian market, Hero is looking at the African region for new customers. The firm recently inaugurated its first overseas assembly plant in Kenya which will cater to the African markets.
