Vespa has conducted a preview of the Vespa VX 125 automatic scooter today to select media houses. The VX 125 is nothing but the LX 125 with additional features. Here we have images posted by our friends at Overdrive on their Facebook wall.

Vespa VX 125 new colors

The most important addition to the Vespa VX is the front disc brake which measures 200mm in dia. The MRF zapper tires are new as well.

In terms of looks, the retro lifestyle scooter gets a redesigned instrument console. The black and maroon colors that were available on the LX 125 have been withdrawn and instead you get the pink and blue color option. Vespa says that the black and maroon had no takers while red and yellow color options were widely preferred.

Apart from the disc brake and the new tires the rest of the scooter is mechanically unchanged. The same 125cc 3V air cooled engine is at the helm, producing 10.06PS of power and 10.6 Nm of torque. The steel monocoque chassis and a single sided front and rear suspensions stay on.

The Vespa VX 125 is expected in the market post June 20 and we will be learning the exact price then. The inclusion of the disc brake will obviously inflate the price of the scooter.

With the Vespa LX and VX scooters, Piaggio is targeting a niche scooter segment. We might see bigger (150cc) and more powerful Vespas on similar lines, in the future.
