Tata has just shown us the 2013 Tata Indigo eCS (which is a comprehensive refresh). Let's take a quick look at the changes.

General Note for the 2013 Model Year Tata cars and Pointers from the Press Conference

Tata tell us that all the MY 2013 products have been improved upon after taking into account feedback from the dealer and customer level. About 500 Tata employees met with the dealers and the customers before the start of the MY 2013 program. In general, Tata say that the overall reliability and performance of the cars have been improved.

Mr. Karl Slym, MD of Tata Motors, told the media that Tata Motors had planned products for the Indian market until the year 2020.

On the outside

As we've previously reported, the refreshed Indigo eCS sports a new 'smoked' headlamp unit. Tata says that the 'dual chambered' construction of the headlights and the black bezel give the new car a 'meaner' look. The grill of the car has also been detailed differently.

The new Indigo eCS features 14-inch alloy wheels of a new and different design.

The rear of the new Indigo eCS features a new chrome garnish. We have also detailed about the slightly different badges in a different story you can read here.

On the inside

As we said before, the new Indigo eCS features the 4-spoke Tata steering wheel we've earlier seen. While Tata calls it an 'all-new' steering wheel, it is very reminiscent of the first generation Indigo sedan.

Gone is the wood finish on the center console. Instead you now get silver accents on the new dual tone interiors. Tata says it's a 'cubic printed' console. The dashboard has also been changed to a new 'ebony black' color.

The design of the instrument cluster including the speedometer and the tachometer sees some changes. You can recognize the octagons outlining them.

On the Mechanicals

The new Indigo eCS features some new mechanicals. The gearbox is now a F-Shift (TA65) gearbox and Tata says the gear shifts will now be smoother and easier. It also promises reduced maintenance costs due to elimination of mechanical linkages.

A new Duo Float suspension has been included in the new Indigo eCS. It promises a better and more comfortable ride.

Tata has also improved the noise insulation of the car with what they call 'Anti acoustic chamber'. New dashboard insulation, a synthetic felt on the rear carpet and cotton felt on the floor should improve things as far as noise is concerned.

On the variants

The petrol variant gets a single 1.2-liter option as before. The variants are as follows: GLS -> GLX -> GVX.

The diesel is available on the CR4 (BS4) and the TDI (BS3) engines. While the CR4 starts from the LS -> LX -> VX, the TDI extends from the LS -> LX.
