Spied – New TVS Scooter caught testing
As a toddler, those wheeled machinery fascinated me even before I knew what they’re called as! So here I’m, petrolhead by birth, Mechanical engineer by qualification and automotive reporter by profession!
TVS has been working on a new scooter that would complement its existing range which features the Scooty Pep, Scooty Streak and the Wego.
The upcoming automatic scooter is expected to sit above the TVS Wego and would target the Honda Activa and the Honda Aviator. The two wheeler could share the Wego’s 110cc engine.
Here are the spyshots of the scooter being tested in Chennai, which are courtesy of xBhp.com forum member who calls himself as “Mr.Ace”.
Though fully disguised, it’s apparent that the scooter has bigger proportions than the Wego. However the design, especially the rear, resembles the Suzuki Access closely.
From the spyshots, we can understand that the new scooter will be available with black alloy wheels. The front suspension adopts telescopic forks but the test mule didn’t have a disc brake. The rear settles for a conventional single sided shock absorber.
The TVS scooter is expected to come with all the contemporary features that are found in other two wheelers in its segment. The scooter market holds huge potential for two wheeler makers and even Yamaha which was not known for scooters in India is now giving priority to the segment.
We expect the new TVS Scooter to be launched by the end of the year.
