Triumph Motorcycles have been eying the Indian market since they presented their bikes at the 2012 Auto Expo. The British motorcycle marque's Indian mission has been slowed down by a few hurdles.

The complete range of Triumph Motorcycles were on display at the Auto Expo last year. Triumph was looking to set up a local assembly plant in Bengaluru to undercut its rivals in pricing but the project seems to be far from becoming a reality in the immediate future. Nevertheless, the company has decided to go ahead with its Indian operations.

In a reply to an email questionnaire sent by our friends at Bikeadvice.in, Triumph Motorcycles have replied that the Indian entry would happen at the end of the third quarter of 2013. However, the company stayed short of informing whether the motorcycles would be locally assembled or imported.

Details regarding the dealerships and booking process will be announced at a later stage.

Triumph Daytona
The Daytona is an absolute looker.

Triumph's lineup of motorcycles are light, nimble and powerful. The portfolio starts with the retro edition of the iconic Bonneville. While the bikes like the Speed Triple, Street Triple and Daytona can satiate your sportsbike needs, the Rocket III with its humongous engine will be a bike for big boys.

Expect Triumph's offerings to be more expensive than originally promised. The delay in the launch would naturally shoot up prices. However, as a trade off, you get to ride something well built, fast, fashionable, and for a change, a sportsbike that isn't Japanese.

We wish the newcomer a triumphant innings in India!
