While Tata Motors' passenger vehicle wing is mired by a lack of brand new vehicles in the immediate future, the company's commercial vehicle department is gearing up to roll out an extensive range of new models this financial year.

Moneycontrol.com reports that India's largest automaker will be launching 40-50 commercial vehicles to mitigate the losses incurred by the passenger vehicle division. The range will include the 'Ultra' LCVs which will be launched this financial year.

Currently, Tata Motors' commercial vehicle portfolio starts at the Magic Iris that has a payload of 600kg and goes all the way to the Prima range of heavy haulers that have a payload of upto 40 tonne.

Tata Ace refresh with the Tata Motors higher officials
The Tata Ace refresh was showcased at the Auto Expo and at a recent landmark celebration.

The segment leading Tata Ace family will undergo a refresh which has been showcased twice already! We also know that the facelifted 407 is nearing production. Given the sheer number of new products lined up, we expect Tata Motors to be the only commercial vehicle manufacturer in India to cover the entire CV segment comprehensively.

As far as the passenger segment is concerned, the short term strategy is to come up with model refreshes. The Tata Nano 2013 is just a few weeks away, and test mules of the Indigo eCS facelift and Aria facelift have also been spotted.

The company hopes that an aggressive CV product plan is the best way to survive the current slowdown of the industry.
