The Porsche Macan has been in gestation for long enough to make us think that its about time for its unveiling.

The Porsche Cayenne has taken SUV driving dynamics to a whole different level and the Macan should offer the same qualities in a significantly smaller and cheaper package. Here are two renderings of the upcoming Porsche by Auto Express.

Auto Express reports that the Porsche Macan bows at the LA Motor Show this November with sale beginning during the second quarter of 2014. The baby Cayenne would be made at the firm's Leipzig plant which is currently being expanded for obvious reasons.

The Macan is based on the same platform that underpins the Audi Q5 but will benefit from an extensive use of aluminium. The car is reportedly lighter by around 130kg.

Even though the Macan adopts the Q5's chassis, the engines and suspension parts will be tuned in a manner to deliver a more dynamic experience. A range of six cylinder petrol and diesel engines would be on offer. Smaller four pots could join the lineup at later stage, in what is a top-down launch strategy. Going by Porsche's current carline offerings, a faster 'S' model and a Hybrid version can also be expected down the line.

The Porsche Macan is expected to carry a price tag of around £36,000 (around Rs. 30.76 lakhs).

We are eagerly waiting for this one!
