Alfa Romeo 4C started off with 1,000 bookings
I’m fanatical about two things in this world: 1. Automobiles 2. Motor Racing.
The Italian automaker Alfa Romeo has been witnessing increased interest from the buyers for its light weight two seater sports coupe, the 4C.
After making debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011, the 4C is one of the four cars that is on Alfa’s current production line along with MiTo, Giulietta and the 159.
Reports suggest that the baby Alfa Romeo 8C has so far received around 1,000 orders which means that Alfa has to kick start its production as early as possible to prevent long waiting period.
The sports coupe is expected to go into production in May 2013 at Maserati’s plant in Modena. Only 3,500 units are planned out of which 1,200 are earmaked for the US alone.
The Alfa Romeo 4C delivers 237hp from a 1.7L inline four cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and can sprint from 0-100kph in just 4.5 seconds before hitting a top speed in the excess of 155mph (248kph). It uses light weight construction method which keeps the kerb weight at 895 kgs.
There were also speculations that Maserati could be set to capitalize on its affiliations with Alfa and could consequently create its own variant of the 4C.
Nonetheless, the 4C will be the first mass-produced Alfa Romeo to re-enter the US market. The Launch Edition is available in ‘Carrara White and (red) Rosso Alfa and comes with an expected Price tag of 60,000 euros (around Rs. 42.3 lakhs).
