He explains the car as "stunning" and "futuristic". Karan also had a word with the driver who said the car feels much better now.

Skoda must increase ground clearance, make changes to the suspension and tweak the ECU settings to deem it ready for Indian conditions. The previous gen Octavia, badged as the Laura, is assembled at Skoda's Aurangabad factory. At some point this year, assembly of the old model won't be possible any longer as production of the Laura has ceased at the Mlada Boleslav plant.

Manufacturers generally present special edition variants of retiring cars to clear up stockyards. Skoda may use this time-tested strategy that would also serve as an indication for the incoming model's imminent entry.

Production of the new Skoda Octavia began in Europe in December 2012.

Compared to the second gen Octavia, the new model has 8 mm additional front headroom, 39 mm additional front elbow width, and 26 mm extra rear elbow width. The new model is 90 mm longer and 45 mm wider than the outgoing Octavia. The wheelbase has grown by 108 mm improving space at the rear seats.

The new Octavia is likely to continue with 1.8-liter gasoline and 2.0-liter diesel options.
