Skoda Rapid frontThe advent of the compact crossovers in the B Segment has meant that the sedans in the space suddenly became the things of past.

Majority of the customers either drive a mini SUV (Renault Duster) or waiting for one (Ford EcoSport). So the car makers have been forced to resort to marketing techniques to sell their once decent selling sedans. Its raining limited edition sedans in the B Segment now.

The Nissan Sunny and its close relative the Renault Scala recently got limited edition versions. The VW Vento Style close on the heels and now we have the Skoda Rapid Prestige, another limited edition aimed at depleting the inventory.

The Skoda Rapid Prestige packs in navigation system, parking sensors, textile floor mats and wind visors. The car gets Prestige badging to proclaim its exclusivity.

Unlike the Vento Style which is available in both petrol and diesel variants, the Rapid Prestige is available only in the diesel version. The 1.6 TDI engine puts out 105 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual transmission does the cog shifting duty.

The Skoda Rapid Prestige limited edition is priced at Rs. 8.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). With the limited edition models, Skoda is hoping to push the sales up, but then almost all its competitors are doing pretty much the same. Won't that nullify the effect?
