The A class has been a phenomenal success, in fact it is the most successful launch in the car maker's lengthy history. The CLA, which is the second car based on the MFA (Modular Front-wheel Architecture) also looks set to follow the path of its hatchback sibling.

The third candidate, the GLA, would further bolster the three pointed star's presence in the lower end of the luxury market. Mercedes believes that increasing the number of MFA offerings would give it a better chance to fight against BMW and Audi.

Whatcar.com reports that, Mercedes is working on a Shooting Brake version of the CLA which would become the most affordable station wagon in the German giant's portfolio. The proposed car will be a baby CLS, giving top most priority to aesthetics.

Mercedes' head of design, Gordon Wagener told Whatcar.com that, "The CLA is a four-door coupe as well, so why not do it?" The CLS Shooting Brake is by far the best looking station wagon available in the market. What the upcoming CLA Shooting Brake promises to be is, a much more affordable eye candy of an estate.
