The Honda Crider is the production version of the Honda Concept C and has just made its global premiere at the Auto Shanghai 2013.

The sedan which will be sandwiched between the Honda Civic and the Accord is developed mainly for the growing niche segment in the Chinese market but one cannot rule out the possibilities of the car being exported to other Asian countries as well. It derives its name from the words, "Criteria" and "Dreams".

Styling wise, the car is a slightly watered down version of the Concept C. The over sized chrome cladding on the front grill stays and the headlights get a blue bezel treatment. There are two LED strips in the headlamp units, one at the top and one at the bottom.

The bumper is neatly executed and there is a prominent ridge on the bonnet which emanates from the Honda logo. There is a slight hint of Acura in the way the front fascia looks, perhaps due to the headlamps.

The profile is characterized by two parallel creases while the rear sports large taillights, akin to the ones on the Concept C. A chrome strip bridges the tail lamp units.

The sedan is powered by a 1.8 litre petrol engine which is paired either to a 5-speed manual or an automatic transmission. The Honda Crider is expected to go on sale in the dragon land by May or June.

The Crider, along with the Hyundai Mingtu, which also made its debut at the Auto Shanghai 2013, will be the first products to cater to the newly formed segment. One can expect more products in the similar lines from other mainline manufacturers.
