The Ford Fiesta ST has just been announced for China at the 2013 Auto Shanghai. The Fiesta ST and the Mondeo are the two models that Ford is announcing for the Chinese market today.
The Fiesta ST is the go-faster version of the Fiesta hatchback. It is powered by a 4 cylinder 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine that boasts of turbocharging, variable valve timing and direct injection. As a result, it produces 180bhp of power and 240Nm of torque. The Fiesta ST is capable of doing the 0-100km/h sprint in a very quick 6.9 seconds while the top speed of the car is a good 220km/h.
To make sure that the Fiesta ST corners like a dream, Ford has fitted it with an electronic torque vectoring system. The ride height has also been lowered. That apart, the Fiesta ST on display boasted of a three coat special orange paint. Ford will be selling the Fiesta ST in the two-door variant only.
Inside, the Fiesta ST is very much reminiscent of the Fiesta albeit with leather seats and contrast stitching to give it a sporty feel. It comes equipped with Ford’s SYNC system that ensures that mobile telephony, bluetooth, music and navigation are controlled. Now wouldn’t you want to see the Fiesta ST on our Indian roads? Considering that the Fiat Punto Abarth is just around the corner and the Polo TSI is due to be launched, Ford should consider bringing their hot hatch to India!
