The Ssangyong Korando is one of the cars in the South Korean car maker's portfolio that is being studied by the parent company Mahindra for an Indian launch.

Ssangyong Korando

The Ssangyong Korando is a compact crossover SUV that can seat five. The SUV, which is easily the best looking car in Ssangyong's current portfolio, received new variants last year. In 2013 it is time for a nip and tuck.

There are spy shots of the refreshed Korando doing its winter testing with minimal concealment on international auto blogs. However test cars are fully camouflaged revealing very few details.

Looks wise, the car gets subtle tweaks to the front grill, bumper, tail lamps and rear bumper. No other significant change is expected and the interiors are likely to remain the same.

Given that the homegrown 2.0 litre XDi diesel engine is relatively a new powertrain, the possibility of it being carried over to the facelifted model is very high. The engine puts out 175 PS of power and turns the wheels either through a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Ssangyong Korando facelift is expected to go on sale sometime late this year or next year and this would be the last facelift for the crossover before the next generation model steps in. Will it come to India? Well we don't know the answer yet.
