Force Motors launched their 4x4x4 SUV, the Gurkha on February 15 at the Bus and Utility Vehicle Show that took place in Noida. The SUV is priced from INR 6.25 lakhs onwards and is available in three variants - a soft top 4x2, soft top 4x4 and a hard top 4x4.

The Force Gurkha is powered by a Mercedes Benz derived 2.6-liter diesel engine producing a very measly 82 PS of power and 230Nm of torque. Do the math and you will arrive at 31.53PS/liter of engine displacement! How do you get only 82PS from a 2.6-liter engine is beyond us. But that doesn't stop the Force Gurkha from going off-road.

The video which happens to be the Gurkha's official TVC shows what it does best - Going off-road and being awesome at it! The E.O.V Gurkha (Extreme Off-Roader Vehicle) is, as Force says, built for the extreme conditions one might encounter through a desert or a forest.

The sort of terrain the Gurkha is driven through will give SUV's like the Land Rover Defender and the Mercedes G Wagen a thorough workout for their axles. Axle twists, hill climbs, descents, water wading and even cutting through thick bushes and trees is what the Gurkha is built for.

The Force Gurkha competes with the Mahindra Thar. However, at the time of the launch, the Gurkha was launched with a BS3 compliant engine only. That means that the Gurkha will be sold only in the non-metropolitan places of India.
