Now the X5 has been spotted testing in China, one of the most important markets for the SUV. It is also the first instance of the car spotted testing in an emerging market. The current X5 is the third best selling SUV in its segment in China, trailing the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport. So it is imperative to test the new car extensively in the dragon land to retain and improve its position.

The next gen X5 has grown in dimensions and the overall design also feels modern and inline with BMWs latest design language which debuted in the new 3 Series. The headlamps flow into the kidney grill and the tail lamps have the resemblance to new Bimmers.

Chinese media reports that the BMW X5 for their country would have the option of 3 petrol engines, displacing 2 litres, 3 liters or 4.4 litres. The brawny X5M is also expected to join the lineup shortly after the launch.

The next gen BMW X5 is expected to make its global premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and its Chinese debut is expected to unfold at the Guangzhou Auto Show in December.

The BMW X5 would be an important product for the German marque to retain its global leadership since the market is steadily inclining towards SUVs.
