The Suzuki Liana, which can be related to as an older cousin to the Dzire from Europe, is set to receive a facelift in China.
The car, which once served as Top Gear's "reasonably price car" is still being sold in China. We brought you spyshots of the camouflaged test mule of the facelift earlier and now we bring you the fully exposed sedan and estate versions.
It has to be said that the facelift process is rather comprehensive and the new front fascia looks more conventional than the aging looks of the current car. The prominent change is the stretched headlamps that extend into the front fender. The front grill looks reminiscent with that of the Swift and has a chrome embellishment on top.
The lower airdam is revised and the new circular fog lamps receive chrome accents. Overall the front fascia looks completely different and refreshing.
The rear of the Liana sedan is also comprehensively redesigned. The huge tail lamp that extends to the boot lid has an air of the old BMW 3 Series to it. The rear bumper is new and sports a pseudo diffuser. The interior is furnished with a new steering wheel and a redesigned center console.
The estate version of the Liana also faces the surgeon's knife. The front fascia is similar to that of the Liana sedan and the rear gets completely redone. The windshield, tailgate, tail lamps and the rear bumper are all new and together they complement the distinguished front-end. However, the side profile of the estate is left untouched.
The current Liana is powered by a pair of petrol engines - a 100 bhp 1.4 litre motor and a 107bhp 1.6 litre motor. The Chinese media report that the latter is likely to be discontinued in the facelifted model.
The facelifted Suzuki Liana duo is expected to break cover at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, shortly after which the sales would commence.
