Skoda rolls out its 15 millionth vehicle at the Mlada Boleslav plant

Skoda 15 millionth vehicle roll outSkoda has rolled out 15 million vehicles since it first started producing cars in 1905 at Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic.

The 15 millionth Skoda to roll out was a silver colored 2013 Skoda Octavia, again from the Mlada Boleslav plant which started it all 118 years ago!

The jubilee car will be used as a VIP limousine at Skoda's technical center.

In the last 6 years alone, Skoda has managed to garner one third of the total sales in its more-than-a-century-old history. In 2012, the Czech automaker sold 9,39,200 cars and is targeting an annual sales figure of 1.5 million units by 2018.

The Skoda Octavia has been the most successful model in the company's history with more than 4 million units sold. The third generation Skoda Octavia has just been launched and it is touted to be one of the top 10 best selling cars globally. There will be more variants such as the Combi (estate) and vRS (sporty) following the Octavia sedan this year.

The new Octavia which has grown in dimensions and equipment should be launched in India later this year. The powertrain options for the Indian market could include 1.8 litre TSI turbo petrol and 2.0 litre TDI diesel engines.

Skoda is currently in the process of updating its existing models to their new design identity apart from working on all-new products, both of which could bring in more volumes to the brand.
