Tata Motors launched the Storme in Delhi, Ludhiana and Punjab during the festival season last year and extended its availability to Maharashtra in early December.

The launch of the model in the South India and other big markets would begin in late January or early February, the Auto Junction report adds. Production constraints had obstructed Tata Motors from introducing the car all over India, but now that production is being ramped up, deliveries can be conducted on a wider scale.

Tata Motors continues to present the first generation car as the lower strata of variants, while the Storme makes up the upper tier of the Safari range.

If you didn't know, the Storme, though heavily inspired by the original as a design, is otherwise a major overhaul. The Storme is based on the Aria platform and it gets brand new interiors. The former's 2.2L diesel engine carries on, collaborating with an improved 5-speed gearbox, sending drive to the rear wheels in lower variants and all four wheels in the top-end variant.

In our test drive, we loved the car's ride quality and second row seat comfort and observed huge improvements in braking performance and NVH.

According to recent media reports, Tata Motors is stealthily working on new features for the Storme such as an automatic transmission and a premium audio system, previewed by the Tata Aria AT concept at last year's Delhi Auto Expo.
