Elsecom Motors who is the sole distributor of Ford in Algeria has launched the car on January 20. The Algerians have been waiting for the arrival of the India made car since several months as the launch of the car was delayed due to certain customs issues with the Algerian government, according to a media report.

Ford's Indian manufacturing facility located near Chennai is the only place where the Figo is manufactured. The car is being exported to more 36 countries and about 40% of the Figos built go overseas.

The Figo for Algerian market is powered by a 1.4 litre petrol engine which generates 82 bhp and 120 Nm of torque instead of Indian version's 1.2 litre 70 bhp petrol motor.

The Algeria spec car seems to be adopting the ZXi trim level offered in India as it has standard equipment like front power windows, powered mirrors, body colored mirrors and door handles, audio system with radio, CD, MP3 and aux-in, folding rear seats, air conditioning and adjustable power steering.

The Ford Figo is available in Algeria with a price tag of 11,79,00 DA (around Rs. 8.06 lakhs). The Figo is a reskinned, re-engineered Mk5 Ford Fiesta that was pulled out of global markets in 2008.
