The facelifted version of the BMW X1 was revealed at the New York Motor show last April. This mid-life facelift was to keep the model fresh as a daisy before an all new model kicks-in by 2015.

The facelifted X1 has subtly remodeled headlights, redesigned side mirrors, redesigned taillights and a modest update on the rear bumper. To get a complete perspective of all the changes, you can go through the product deep dive over here.

The X1 crossover is a very important product in the BMW lineup. BMW has sold over 300,000 X1s in just two-and-a-half years. Currently, the BMW X1 is the best seller from the ‘X’ range of cars. In fact, it prompted other German rivals Mercedes and Audi to go back to the drawing board to create new compact crossovers to keep up with the Bavarian czar.

BMW India’s dominance in the Indian market can be easily credited to the X1. At one point of time, BMW India used to sell twice the number of X1s than its entire product portfolio. Being a first in its segment, the BMW X1 rallied to success for the last 3 years. But now things are a bit different. Audi’s Q3 and Mercedes B-Class are well accepted in the market. Volvo India is ready to launch its V40 Cross Country crossover.

Thus, BMW India has a daunting task of providing more value with facelifted X1.
