Overdrive.in reports that VW India is studying the market for feasiblity of a compact SUV. VW India is reportedly considering a compact SUV which would be an apt product in the current market scenario where the compact SUVs like the Renault Duster and Mahindra Quanto are keeping the cash registers ringing.

The VW Taigun which was showcased at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in October seems to a fitting candidate with its sub four metre length and high driving position. The car has a wheelbase of 2.47 m which translates into adequate interior space.

With its high ground clearance, flared wheel arches, roof rails and the looks that mimic the larger VW SUVs like the Toureg and Tiguan, the car won't have any problem in getting recognized by Indians as a compact SUV.

The Taigun is powered by a 1.0 litre turbo charged direct injection petrol which puts out an impressive 110PS/175 Nm. The cog shifting duty is taken care by a 6-speed manual gearbox. It goes without saying that in India the mini SUV will bear a diesel heart.

The compact SUV is expected to venture into India in 2014 and will be positioned to take on the Renault Duster and the soon to be launched Ford EcoSport.
