To begin with, the split headlamp design which was the trademark of E Class right from its second iteration has been dropped in favor of a peanut shaped single unit which looks sophisticated with LED daytime lights. The designers have tried to give the headlamps the same look as the current car when viewed from the distance.

The curves in the bonnet's sheet metal has more accentuated and the chrome grill looks even more imposing than the current model. The bumper is dramatic with sharp blade like lower edge and sculpted foglamp enclosures that flow into the wheel arches.

The rear fascia gets some subtle refreshes like new shape for exhaust tips and a reprofiled LED tail lamps.

The interior layout remains largely the same but the dashboard sports black and brushed aluminium finish which considerably improves the cabin ambiance.

The car is expected to continue using the same set of motors as the current car while a new 2.1 litre turbodiesel motor is expected to be added to the lineup later.

Come January, the facelifted E Class will be officially unveiled at the NAIAS.
