The patience of the prospective buyers who already started thronging the dealerships to inquire about the EcoSport's booking dates is depleting every passing day. We petrolheads couldn't wait either to see how good the compact crossover SUV fares against its main rival Renault Duster which is moving out of the showrooms faster than Renault could build it.

Our friends at Motorbeam.com report that, according to their sources, Ford EcoSport has almost completed its ARAI testing procedures. The much anticipated car is expected to end the wait in February 2013.

The EcoSport has been spotted testing in and around Chennai on numerous occasions. Ford India is ostensibly giving the SUV the final touches before gearing up for the big day, perhaps one of their biggest in history.

Ford has been progressively releasing details about the car through their official website and now almost everything except the prices, variants, ARAI mileage and launch date had been made public.

By delaying the EcoSport, Ford India has unintentionally offered the Renault Duster a free hit in the Indian market. The French manufacturer is reportedly readying the 4WD version of the Duster for Indian market roughly at the same time as Ford EcoSport's launch.

Ford Ecosport 4WD is available in Brazil but its unlikely to be on offer in India, not at least during the launch. Watch the video to catch the EcoSport 4WD in action.
