Spied - Tata LSV 4x4 is the Indian Humvee

We brought you the news of Tata Light Specialist Vehicle (LSV) 4x4 being tested at Leh a couple of years back and now we bring you the spy pictures of a variant of the armored vehicle.

The Tata LSV 4x4 is a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) which falls in the category of Mahindra Axe, which was the first Indian HMMWV. The vehicle made its debut at the 2008 Defense Expo in New Delhi.

Tata Motors has been supplying high mobility armoured vehicles to Indian army for more than half a century. The vehicles are based on 6 or 8 wheeled trucks.

The LSV 4x4 is a four wheeled armoured combat vehicle which is designed to transport troops and artillery on risky reconnaissance or counter insurgency missions. The high mobility vehicle has been supplied to Indian Army and Counter Terrorism Squads (CTS).

Tata LSV 4x4 can carry a payload of 1.2 tonne and its platform can be altered according to the needs of diverse missions. The all terrain vehicle has an adaptive automatic transmission with a top speed of 105 kmph. The LSV can operate in very harsh climatic conditions and can withstand temperatures ranging from -20C to 55C.

The vehicle has an excellent gradeablity of 60% while the approach and departure angles are 45 degrees. With ground clearance of 255 mm, the LSV can traverse any sort of terrain.
