Our ardent reader Mr. Mohit from Delhi has spotted an innocent white Honda Brio on Delhi - Panipat highway carrying trade certificate plates, but on seeing black smoke emanating from the tail pipe he got interested and clicked it right away.

Honda has been testing diesel Brio for quite some time now, however the first Honda to get the diesel engine will be the Honda Amaze sedan which is slotted for a launch in next financial year.

It's speculated that the Honda Brio will get a 1.2 litre diesel which would have a power output of around 80 bhp with a fuel economy of around 20 kmpl. The Honda Amaze sedan is expected to get a 1.5 diesel motor.

Honda might take its time in bringing in the Brio diesel since the engine is new and needs to be localized heavily in order to price it competitively. Hence Honda will resort to a top down approach and bring the Amaze first.

Slipping in an efficient and refined diesel motor into what is a fun to drive hatchback will make the Honda Brio a very tempting choice.
