By releasing photographs, the automakers confirm the name of the vehicle, while also being able to tease the final product.

Someone forgot to tell the marketeers and image specialists about the undisguised spyshots leaked earlier this week.

Yes, regular readers were given the news of the car being branded Springo a few days back and along with it, were shown a few spy shots. The official shots of the production version gives away the location of the charging port.

The Springo EV was first showcased at the 2010 Guangzhou Auto Show bearing a 'S' logo on the nose which got people thinking that it could be a sub brand from GM-SAIC specifically for electric cars.

The electric powertrain is constituted by a 85 KW electric motor which is energized by GM's 22 KWh Lithium ion battery pack. The same package can be found on the America bound Chevrolet Spark EV (Chevy Beat) that is set to be showcased at Los Angeles Auto Show.

The Springo EV is said to have a top speed of around 130 kmph and a range of around 150 km on a full charge. The charging point is located on the front left fender.

We'll have to wait until next week to learn if the Springo will be part of the Chevrolet family or not. One cannot rule out the possibility of the Springo turning into a sub brand which could produce a string of low-cost electric cars.

We'll get the full lowdown on the Springo EV when it is launched at the Guangzhou Auto Show later this month (Nov. 23 to Dec. 2). Sales of vehicle will commence in China shortly after the launch.
