Renault LodgyRenault is cooking up their own version of the Dacia Logdy which is to be present in the 2014 New Delhi Auto Expo.

The Dacia Lodgy made its world premiere at this years Geneva Motor Show and went on sale in Europe. The 7 seat MPV is based on a modified version of the Logan's chassis that also underpins the Duster.

The car will likely be positioned slightly below the Duster to say hello to the Maruti Ertiga which is raking up sales. Renault's Mumbai design centre which worked on Indianizing the Duster is expected to do the same treatment to the Renault Lodgy as well and that means lots of chrome on the front grill.

At 4500 mm in length and 1750 mm in width, the MPV has better dimensions than Ertiga and even better than the Nissan Evalia while only marginally smaller than the segment leader Toyota Innova. The Lodgy's USP is going to be interior space.

The Lodgy has an interesting front fascia, a quintessential MPV side profile and unique rhomboidal tail lamps.

The car is powered by 1.5 litre K9K motor which is slowly turning out to be the next national engine of India (the current one being the Fiat 1.3 MultiJet). The engine is expected to be available in the same configuration as the Renault Duster - 90 PS version with 5-speed manual and 110 PS version with 6-speed manual transmission.

With an Ertiga rivaling price and Innova rivaling space, Renault is looking to give Lodgy a value proposition that never goes unappreciated by the value conscious Indian customers.
