Honda Brio sedan revealedTeam-BHP admin operating under the handle 'GTO' has dropped what may be a big exclusive today on his forum.

GTO speculates if the Brio sedan (Code - Honda 2TP) could be branded 'Honda Amaze.'

Honda engineers are working on the sub-4 meter sedan in Thailand for over a year now and very recently reached the end of the development cycle.

The company handed out camouflaged test mules to Thai journalists a few days ago for a preview drive, and the reviews have been rave.

For the Thai market (petrol-dominated country) a 1.2-liter 90hp petrol engine paired to a CVT will sit under the bonnet. The Indian market will get a diesel engine, which according to GTO, is good for 24kpl in the ARAI tests.

Honda has added 26kg to the Brio through attaching a boot, which has reflected in just a 0.1 second drop in 0-100kph acceleration time, compared to the hatch. This statistic will differ on the diesel variant as the engine is heavier due to the nature of its construction.

Except for the rear seat that has additional cushioning, interior components have been retained to contain cost.

The Honda Amaze will challenge the likes of the Mahindra Verito CS and the Maruti Swift Dzire when it hits the Indian market in early 2013. More importantly, the Amaze will be Honda's first diesel product, and the oil burner developed for the 2TP will be applied on future Brio platform variants giving Honda the key to unlock the Indian market.
