Audi India has announced that it is planning to assemble the Audi Q3 compact SUV at its facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

The move comes as the entry level SUV is putting up a good show right from its launch day. The Q3 will play a significant part of Audi India's growth this year which is estimated to be in the region of 55-60%.

Audi has a dedicated assembly line in the VW group factory which was initially constructed to cater the manufacturing needs of Skoda. Audi assembles the A4 and A6 sedans as well as the Q5 and Q7 SUVs.

The growing demand for Q series SUVs has prompted the company to locally assemble its latest kid on the block. With the local assembly, Audi will be able to reduce the waiting period for the Q3 as well as improve the profit margin owing to the reduced tariff, if they decide not to drop the price.

Audi India's boss Mr. Michael Perschke said, "We are planning to start assembling Q3 in India. We have built a new assembly hall called hall—C..Now with a single shift in the new hall, our installed capacity is reaching out between 7,500 and 9,000 units."

Audi is expecting to sell around 8,000 units this year compared to previous year's 5,511 units. The German marque has witnessed an impressive growth in a short span and is currently the second best selling luxury brand in India, at an arm's length behind BMW.
