The 2013 Skoda Octavia is based on VW's MQB (Modular Transverse Matrix) platform which is also found in the latest VW group cars such as the new Golf, Audi A3.

The 2013 Skoda Octavia is 4,659 mm long, 1,814 mm wide and has a wheelbase of 2,686 mm (compared to 4569 mm, 1769mm, 2,578mm of the current Octavia) making it larger than the current model. However, the new Skoda saloon will be lighter owing to the MQB platform.

The car is expected to use the same set of powertrains in India with some improvements and tweaks to have better performance and efficiency.

Skoda expects the 2013 Octavia to be one of the top 10 best selling cars in the world and that means there is quite a lot riding on this launch!
