Land Rover launched the 2013 Range Rover in India at a starting price of Rs. 1.72 crores (ex-showroom, New Delhi) earlier today.

The new Range Rover is the world's first all-aluminium monocoque bodied SUV and the usage of the lightweight material has saved LR 420kg compared to the previous model.

The all-terrain performance is claimed to have improved as Land Rover's 'Terrain Response System 2' makes its debut appearance on the new Rangy.

The 2013 Range Rover is fully designed and developed in the UK. It is manufactured at the aluminium manufacturing plant in Solihull, UK. It is 4.99m long and sports a 2.92m wheelbase and has a 295.5mm ground clearance.

As one would expect on an SUV that is priced at 2 crore rupees, there is no shortage of gadgets. You get a 8-speaker Meridian auto system (825W), a rear seat entertainment system, 8-inch dual view touch screen display and a sliding panoramic roof among a bouquet of features and options.

The new Range Rover is launched in three variants - two diesel and one petrol - with 4WD technology and an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The 'Autobiography' petrol variant is powered by a 4,999cc supercharged V8 engine that puts out 510PS at 6,000-6,500 RPM and 625Nm at 2,500-5,500 RPM.

The diesel engine is available in Vogue SE and Autobiography variants. It is powered by a 4,367cc V8 engine that makes 339PS at 3,500 RPM and 700Nm at 1,750-3,000 RPM.
