Despite being a well engineered product, the Tata Aria has failed to set cat among the pigeons. Tata is doing all it could to take the Aria away form the double digit sales figures.

Tata Aria

Tata Motors have stripped down the Aria for the second time in an attempt to make the vehicle more affordable and this time the car loses even more equipment, but crucially the price of the entry level variant has been brought just under 10 lakh mark at Rs. 9.95 lakhs (ex-showroom New Delhi).

The entry level 4x2 variant is named as Pure LX. Interestingly, the Aria's range now starts at same price as the Safari Storme's base version.

The Aria Pure LX ditches the dual mass flywheel in favour of the single mass flywheel which is found in the Tata Safari Storme. The Aria 2.2 diesel motor will still produce 140 PS/320 Nm.

The Pure LX variant retains the body coloured bumpers, projector HID lamps, disc brakes all around, key less entry and rear AC vents.

Features missing on the Tata Aria Pure LX

  • Airbags
  • ABS with EBD
  • Fabric or leather seats (Pure LX has vinyl seats)
  • Audio system
  • Rear wash, wipe and de-fogger
  • Follow me home headlamps
  • Roof storage compartments
  • Body colored rub-strips
  • Chrome treated interior door handles
  • Chrome border for the lower air dam

The Tata Aria LX, even after the strip down is rich in equipment when compared to the competitors and the new base variant is expected to get more attention from the taxi operators.
